On Wednesday, September 28th, the Senate voted to override President Obama’s veto of a bill that will now allow families of those killed in the terrorist attacks to sue Saudi Arabia. The Senate approved the override on an overwhelming 97-1 vote. Members of both parties broke into applause after the vote. Obama warned that it might damage America’s relationship with Saudi Arabia, but the powerful emotional appeal proved too strong.
