Apple Boosts Security After Powerful Spy Hacks Into Activist’s iPhone

Apple boosted its security and launched its own bug bounty after a human rights activist, Ahmed Mansoor, from the United Arab Emirates received an anonymous text message containing a message promising details about torture in the country’s state prison, along with a link. Just a tap on this link would have given the spy full control over his phone, if Mansoor had clicked on it. This attack is the iPhone’s first remote jailbreak feat. Apple comments, “We were made aware of this vulnerability and immediately fixed it with iOS 9.3.5. We advise all of our customers to always download the latest version of iOS to protect themselves against potential security exploits.”
